Norco pills are orally administrating tablets containing Hydrocodone bitartrate and acetaminophen drugs. Norco is an opioid analgesic having an opioid pain reliever (Hydrocodone) and a non-opioid less potent pain reliever (acetaminophen) that increases the effects of opioids. To relieve moderate to severe pain, doctors prescribe Norco pain medication.

Norco pills also contain several inactive ingredients such as sucrose, corn starch, stearic acid, pregelatinized starch, povidone, crospovidone, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, colloidal silicon dioxide, and color additives.

How does Norco work?

Norco acts on the brain to reduce pain sensations. It attaches protein called opioid receptors on nerve cells present in the brain, spinal cord, and other parts of the body. In this way, opioids block pain messages sent from the body to the brain through the spinal cord.
Norco medication also contains acetaminophen, which reduces fever and enhances the effects of an opiate.

Norco dosage
Doctors adjust Norco dosage according to the intensity of pain and response of each patient. However, keep in mind that Hydrocodone tolerance can develop with higher or prolonged doses, and acetaminophen can cause severe liver damage if taken more than 4 grams a day.
The usual adult Norco dosage is one to two tablets of Norco 5 325 milligrams given every four to six hours, as required by the patient.
The maximum daily dosage is eight tablets of Norco 5 325 per day.
