As you may have guessed, the Archer is FFXIV's one and only long-ranged weapon master, specializing in bows. As a result, the Archer can deliver enormous amounts of damage from a distance similar to that of the Disciples of Magic. While damage may be the Archer's primary task, that is just one of his many responsibilities. In order for the Archer to be fully effective in battle, he has to properly manage his arrows, control his enmity (threat) and learn how to properly pull monsters.

Below are a few of the abilities the Archer can use to accomplish all necessary tasks:

Hawk's Eye - Your eyes gain hawk like precision, increasing the accuracy of your next attack.

Wide Volley - Launch a wide-ranged assault, increasing attack power and dealing projectile damage to the target and nearby enemies.

Scouring Strike - Deliver a debilitating attack, dealing projectile damage and removing an enhancement effect from the target.

Shrieker - Loose an attack with a terrifying sound, dealing projectile damage and causing the target to flee in terror.

Quick Nock - Nock and release with blinding speed, shooting multiple arrows at a time in a cone in front of you. Increases attack power and deals projectile damage.

Replenish - Invoke a blessing of renewal, consuming MP to replenish your projectiles to capacity.

Retrieval - Search your surroundings, consuming HP to find and gather projectiles.

Being FF14's one and only bow specialist, it always appeared quite inevitable the Archer would have inherited certain abilities from his FFXI predecessors. Known abilities are listed below:

Shadowbind (RNG, FFXI) - Fetter an enemy's shadow, rendering the target immobile.

Chameleon - Blend in with your surroundings, consuming TP to reduce enmity.

*Note: The Ranger had a similar ability called 'Camouflage' in FFXI.

Quickstride - Quicken your stride, increasing movement speed.

*Note: The Thief had a similar ability called 'Flee' in FFXI.

Unlike other disciplines in FFXIV, the Archer possess very few abilities from his predecessors. Instead, SE has seemingly decided it would be better if they focused their efforts on giving the Archer a more unique set of abilities. As a result, the Archer is the freshest, most unique discipline you will find in all of Eorzea!
